AMENITIES & SERVICES

|
What to expect: A touch of New York or L.A. in downtown Portland. This intimate hotel opened in May 2002 and has an attentive, snap-to staff and a Zen-like, rectangular lobby decorated in black and white, with leather sofas and sleek modern furnishings. The minimalist background is balanced by bowls of green apples, a fireplace, and a selection of artwork from the hotel's extensive art collection. Amenity highlights: The Lucia offers a 24-hour fitness room, a self-serve business center, and 24-hour room service from Typhoon!, next door. The hotel decor blends contemporary minimalism with warm, Asian-influenced furnishings. The hotel looks like an art gallery, with paintings, sculptures, and photographs everywhere. A concierge is on hand during the day to attend to guests' needs. Insider tip: The owners are especially proud of their collection of photographs by Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist and former Portlander David Hume Kennerly. Hundreds of his photos and portraits of world leaders and celebrities grace the lobby, elevators, and hallways. Every guestroom has at least one of his photographs.
